Computer Officer Examinaiton Preparation ( Public Service Commissxion - Lok Sewa Ayog)
Required Qualification:
Successful completion of University Bachelor's Degree in:
- Computer Science or,
- Computer Engineering or
- Mathematics/Stastics with at least 6 months Diploma Computer Course in System Analysis and Software Design
Examination Question Pattern:
The examinaiton is conducted on two phases - first phase written examination and second phase practical exam and interview. There are two papers to attempt usually given on two successive days on the first phase. First paper is objective paper carrying 100 marks and the second one is subjective carrying 50 marks.
Objective Question Paper:
There would be 100 questions each carrying 1 marks. Each correct answer would award +1 marks and wrong answer would -0.20 marks. An examinee should obtain at least 40 marks to pass the paper. Time allocated for the examination is 1 hour and 15 minutes. The general distribution of questions with respect to chapters is as folows:
There would be 15 questions from Database Management System and Design
There would be 10 questions from Computer Funcamentals, System Analysis and Design, Operating Systems, Networking, MIS and Web Engineering, IT in Nepal
There would be 8 questions from Data Structure and Algorithms
There would be 7 questions from Programming Language
There would be 5 questions from E-Commerce Technology
There would be 3 questions from Computer Architecture & Organization
There would be 2 questions from Compiler Design
Subjective Question Paper:
There would be 10 questions each carrying 10 marks. Some or all of the questions might carry subquestions. There might be two or more parts of a single question and might include two or more short notes. An examinee should obtain at least 20 marks out of 50 marks to pass the paper. Time allocated for the examination is 1 hour and 30 minutes. The general distribution of questions with respect to chapters is as folows:
There would be 1 question from each of the chapters : Data Structure and Algorithms, System Analysis and Design, Programming Language, E-Commerce Technology, IT in Nepal
There would be 1 question combined from the chapters : Operating Systems, Database Management System and Design
There would be no questions from the chapters : Computer Fundamentals, Networking, Computer Architecture & Organization, Compiler Design, MIS and Web Engineering
Practical Question Paper:
An examinee would attempt practical examination only after the successful completion of first phase examination. There would be 5 questions each carrying 10 marks. An examinee should obtain at least 25 marks out of 50 marks to pass the paper. Time allocated for the examination is 1 hour and 30 minutes. The general distribution of questions with respect to chapters is as folows:
There would be 2 questions from Database Management System and Design
There would be 1 question from each of the chapters Operating System, Programming Language, Networking
